Subject: NetBSD R-Only config problem

I followed the directions in the FAQ regarding the default single-user
read-only settings and the mount -u/ or mount -a solutions. Neither
worked in multiuser mode. I tried to run fsck and fsck -p, but both
failed because /dev/??? stuff was not configured as expected.

In general, my boot-up seems to be experiencing two problems:

1. Some dev/ stuff is not working

2. I am in read-only mode and can't escape.

Also, I am using the ftp.eskimo.com's NetBSD kernel which gives the
following message: "NetBSD_Booter 1.6 required for full implementation",
but 1.6 always fails with a "booting stopped" error while 1.4 is okay --
'cept for the message.

In general, the system is booting and I can go thru directories, play
startrek, read manuals.

FYI, I have a Xceed MacroColor 30HR v2.0 video card which is compatible
with NetBSD on a SE/30 (8mb, sys7.5, 32bit mode, 1bit video depth, no
inits 'cept Mode32).

TIA,

Bud
