Internet2 Land Speed Record beated by NetBSD machines.

A new Internet2 Land Speed Record has just been set by Sunet, the
Swedish University Computer Network, using machines running NetBSD.

With two Dell 2650's /w single 2GHz CPUs we were able to achieve
a record speed of 69.073 petabitmeter/second (16383km * 4226Gbit/s),
using the public Sunet and Sprint networks.

Especially noticeable is that the the transmitting machine is mostly
idle, the speed limit has only to do with hardware limitations in
this configuration.  Earlier records set usually runs out of CPU
in the transmitter despite faster CPUs.

not yet been updated but the LSR judging committee has acknowledged
the record).
