Hello folks
I've never managed up to now to make my HP 1005 Multi-Function Printer to
react in some manner using different versions of NetBSD, e.g. v2.1, 3.1 or
4.0_BETA2.
Particularly I'm interested in the printing function.
It's attached over USB and it's using /dev/ulpt0 -- where is appears
attached, but doesn't react when I write to it. It neither reacts over
/dev/ulpn0.
I later found out that these MFP beasts probably only do react using the
hplip package (provided by HP) which can be found in pkgsrc-wip.
However, the TODO file of the package states that the USB driver needs
work. In fact, I couldn't see any reaction up to now. Btw: for the hplip package
to work in theory one has to remove the ulpt driver from the kernel -- I
have done that on all the boxes running the NetBSD versions mentionned above
when testing, but at last without any results despite of the MFP appearing as
an ugen0 device, which is wanted.
My basic question is: has someone some MFP from HP working on a NetBSD box
or even mine specified in the subject line?
Thanks!
