I remember this from a long time ago, something about the system waiting 
for a response from the failed server while at a high IPL (somewhere in 
low-level FS code).  I remember the consensus at the time was that it 
was a very difficult problem to fix as it was somehow inherent to the 
NFS protocol.  Still, I'm surprised there hasn't been some progress, as 
I originally ran into this on SunOS4.1.5 (or thereabouts).
