Dear all,

with a Laptop (IBM Thinkpad T40p) running NetBSD 2.0 GENERIC_LAPTOP I have
trouble configuring the network device.

The build-in network card identifies as:

ath0 at pci2 dev 2 function 0
ath0: interrupting at irq 11
ath0: mac 4.2 phy 3.0 5ghz radio 1.7 2ghz radio 2.3
ath0: 11a rates: 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps
ath0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps
ath0: 802.11 address: 00:05:4e:41:17:6e

And sees the AP:

# wiconfig ath0 -D

AP Information
ap[0]:
         netname (SSID): [ KWERTH ]
         BSSID: [ 00:30:f1:c3:11:9f ]
         Channel: [ 7 ]
         Quality/Signal/Noise [signal]: [ 0 / 0 / 0 ]
                                 [dBm]: [ 0 / -149 / -149 ]
         BSS Beacon Interval [msec]: [ 100 ]
         Capinfo: [ ESS WEP ]
         DataRate [Mbps]: [ 11 ]

Furthermore, I can get a connection with a PCMCIA wi card, but when I try
to use the ath0 interface with the same configuration as the successfully
running wi0 interface, I get tons of

ath0: open authentication failed (reason 2) for 00:30:f1:c3:11:9f

messages in the syslog.

Here are the ifconfig outputs:

ath0: flags=8802<BROADCAST,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
         ssid KWERTH nwkey 0x[WEPKEY]

wi0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

         inet6 fe80::205:5dff:feda:3557%wi0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0xa

I tryed several media options (autoselect, etc.) but all give the same
results.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks a lot and best regards,

    Torsten
