I asked this question in port-hpcmips, but maybe it's more relevant to
more than just that.

I have NetBSD/hpcmips running on an NEC Mobilepro 880. I plan on using
a microdrive at some point. For the sake of power conservation, I'd
like to minimize disk usage as much as possible.

One thing that comes to mind is the syslog. I think I'd like to log
that to a small memory disk, then copy it to a file at shutdown (or
maybe rotate it to disk at some interval). I'm not sure what the
consequences of running out of disk space is to the syslogd, if that's
even a problem beyond not getting any more messages.

What other areas should I look at to minimize disk usage?

I've been writing down everything I do, hopefully I can make some kind
of a useful doc out of this for future use.
