1.6.1 is really obsolete in sparc64 land. I would recommend installing 2.0.1
(I didn't notice 2.0.1 binaries were available, so you may have to install
2.0 and rebuild a 2.0.1 kernel)
Lots of bugs have been fixed, including in the compiler itself :)
