The cute daemon has been the mascot since 4.3BSD at least and also 
appeared on most of the NetBSD "powered by" web button images.  They 
were all available under gallery/logos.html but unfortunately have been 
removed since.  Fortunately I downloaded a few of them for my private 
use when learning that a logo contest is about to happen.
