Hi,

Yesterday I tried to install NetBSD on a couple of Compaq Deskpros (i386).
No matter whether I used the official 1.6.1 CD or a custom built 1.6.1 stable
release, I always got a segfault when pax tried to read etc.tgz:

Segmentation fault - core dumped
# Command: pax -zrvpe -O -f /mnt2//i386/binary/sets/etc.tgz

In a previous step, base.tgz was read without any problem.

I tried it on three different machines about five times each, always with
the same results.

Some really strange (at least in my opinion) results of some tests I did
today:

- The segfault does not occur if I do at least one of the following:
  * I configure my ethernet interface using DHCP
  * I select not to see each filename during extraction of the sets

(I.e.:
- The segfault always occurs if I configure my ethernet interface manually
AND select to see each filename during set extractions.)

At least I found a workaround, but I still wonder what could have been
the problem. Any hints?

TIA, Jukka
