Hello everybody,
My machine is an Intel PIII 450, 256MB RAM, 'bout 60GB hdd.
I connect to the internet via an AVM A1 (Fritz!Card Classic), it's ISA,
non-pnp.
On SuSE GNU/Linux 7.3 Pro (+ kernel 2.4.20), this card works fine, thanks to
YaST. I am ordinarily not a great fan of yast, but on Debian GNU/Linux 3.0r0
I tried to set up the card manually, I failed completely and finally managed
to blow up my system. =)
Recently I installed FreeBSD on my machine. So far I am pretty happy with it,
but the ISDN card doesn't seem to work. This might be related to my
incompetence, but I understand FreeBSD 5.x has inherent problems with the A1.
Now I am able to get hold of a six-cd package with NetBSD 1.6 plus packages
for pretty cheap money. So far I am really fascinated with BSD, and I would
like to give it a try, but without internet, my computer is not too useful.
So has anybody experience using an A1 with NetBSD 1.6? Can you give me any
hints on where to look? Is there a mailing list for questions regarding isdn
and netbsd? Or an ISDN4BSD-mailing-list, maybe?
Thank you very much,
Kind regards,
Benjamin Walkenhorst
