I guess that's why. The department supplying the staff and paper are
the ones that would do the accounting, not the department providing
the terminal. The notion of using "lpd" to massage print jobs for
hardware postscript printers is a new use, relatively speaking.

Is this an HP laserjet? I seem to recall adding something to the
NetBSD web pages (FAQ) describing a work-around for this, involving
telnetting to the printer. I know this isn't the first time the issue
has come up -- you might also try doing a search on existing PR's, or
on the mailing lists, for topical background or maybe even patches.
