It works for all virtual terminals (screen0, screen1 a.s.o.), thanks.
But gdm doesn't seem to care /etc/login.conf. (In addition I don't
succeed at all in presetting personal environment variables for a gdm
session, neither by ~/.gnomerc nor by ~/.xsession. I can see that when
starting emacs by the window manager and looking at the variable
``process-environment''.)
