i have a router, this host/machine serves as router and several other
tasks, it is an old i486dx33 that works very well nd soon will become a
netBSD based firewall,
ed0 (203.x.x.1/24) and my ppp0 link assigned address (x.x.x.x/30)
all of my internal machines get pointed to this host as the internal
"defaultroute" point.
now inside this machine in teh rc.conf file i have set the machines
identity as ed0 (203.x.x.1/24) on teh local network and for the
external network ppp0 (x.x.x.x/30)
umm what i am trying to say is that as long as both sets of routing
process know where to deliver the packets than it should work well. the
only problem becomes when the routing process gets presented with an
ambigious destination, or are/do netBSD routing processes differentiate
out the rfc958 address and say 'sorry we cannot deliver to that
address, because it is undeliverable!!'
the reason i am asking is that i hope to be adding several nodes to the
local backbone in teh near future and i will only have rfc958 address
blocks to play with, i'm not really prepared to take on subnetting a
class c address space, or to maintain an ipv6 network .. the reading
that i have done so far is a bit daunting letalone the sortage of place
to get an ipv6 network address space from in teh forst place.
actually, has anybody else tried running an at "home" network with
several external branches, beit with ip4/ip6 adressing space ???

yes, the weather is much kinder to me now and teh arthrits has settled
down a lot, this has eased teh pain and teh 'grouchiness' (grin) that
is teh usual result from teh much increased pain levels, sadly.
received with thanks and appreciations
warm regards
