I have a similar problem when booting (1.5.2, 1.6 and a current
kernel), but the pause only occurs when probing the cdrom (the hard
disk is probed fairly quickly). I notice you have two CD-ROM drives,
and a ZIP drive as well as a couple of hard disks: is the pause
occuring when all are probed or only for certain devices? Maybe there
is a connection with how the code deals with CD/removeable atapi
drives....
