i have aquired an old compaq prosignia (it ran openbsd in a previous
life, quite successfully i was told). it has an eisa scsi host adapter
(adaptec 2940 uw) to which is attached a 2 Gb hard drive and a sony
cdrom drive. the machine has 32 mb dram. here my problems start.

netbsd (v1.4.2) (and freebsd v4.6-R) find the host adapter on boot and
find 16mb off the available 32 mb - then when teh installation
progresses to write to the hard disk it universally complains about
not being able to find any peripheral media (hard drive and or cdrom
drive).

i've spent a while looking at google through the "compaq scsi hard
drive bsd eisa" search results, i've changed the number and order of teh
search variables. not many of teh results gave definitive answers as to
how to solve this problem.

given the fact that this machine is a bit to old fro freebsd v5 and i'm
looking at investigationg netbsd i thought that i'd ask here, any help
or suggestions to get this old i486dx100 with 32 mb dram back on teh
internet with netbsd would be a real treat.

much appreciations and thanks in advance for your help and
cnciderations

with warm regards

jonathan

ps, sorry for my typing i am tired and my cns has had a conciderable
amount of stress today.
