kppp is a self-contained frontend for pppd, so the scripts in the Short G=
uide=20
aren't relevent. If you do it that way you invoke ppp with the ppp-up scr=
ipt=20
and have nothing to do with kppp.

However, if you want the nice integrated KDE features of kppp you just=20
configure it in the KDE way. But you seem to have done that already if yo=
u=20
can connect as root.

I had the same problem when I used to run KDE and I think I fixed it by=20
changing /etc/ppp/options to only have "noauth". I think all the options =
you=20
need to use ppp-up conflict with kppp.

Anyway, hopefully this solves your problem.
