To install kde you can do this:

Under csh, you do

mkdir -p /usr/tmp # My /var directory is very small
setenv PKG_TMPDIR /usr/tmp # Sp I am choosing PKG_TMPDIR to /usr/tmp
setenv PKG_PATH /mnt/cdrom # My cdrom mount point
pkg_add -v kde # This installs whichever latest KDE version is

Under bash or sh, you do

mkdir -p /usr/tmp # My /var directory is very small
export PKG_TMPDIR=3D/usr/tmp # Sp I am choosing PKG_TMPDIR to /usr/tmp
export PKG_PATH=3D/mnt/cdrom # My cdrom mount point
pkg_add -v kde # This installs whichever latest KDE version is

If you have a fast internet connection, then you can create a #!/bin/sh f=
ile.
Here's what my pkg_add.kde.sh looks like:
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
#!/bin/sh
cd /usr/pkgsrc/pkgtools/pkg_install
make update && make CLEANDEPENDS=3Dyes clean && make distclean
cd /
export PKG_TMPDIR=3D/usr/tmp
export PKG_PATH=3Dftp://netbsd.stevens-tech.edu/pub/NetBSD/packages/1.6/i=
386/All
pkg_add -v kde
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

Make this file executable by doing chmod u+x pkg_add.kde.sh

Then to install latest KDE from ftp site above, I do
=2E/pkg_add.kde.sh

or, equally well, you can do

sh pkg_add.kde.sh
