Actually, that second link I mentioned,
http://www.fuzzball.org/node.php?id=43 is about using stunnel under
Windows. Also, Trebuchet <http://sourceforge.net/projects/trebuchet/>
is a MUD client that has built-in SSL support. Dunno what MacOS Classic
users can do though... (MacOS X users should be able to use stunnel
or Trebuchet).

Windows 2000 and later have IPsec built-in... I still haven't figured
out exactly how to configure it though :) My gut feeling is that it's
too much hassle for the average user to set up, although maybe it
would be easy with some step-by-step instructions. As far as I know,
the only IPsec support for older versions of Windows is in commercial
VPN packages.
