Hi,

I've been searching the web and the netbsd.org website
without finding an answer, maybe someone here can
provide a clue.

I have just installed NetBSD/1.6+X/4.2 over FTP on my
Athlon/1.53GHz/Asus A7V266-machine with a Matrox
Millenium G550. I'm using the Matrox G400 driver
(set when configuring X with xf86config).

I installed KDE3 from pkgsrc,
and all that went fine. When launching X (KDE)
it was extremely slow. It is not that the
CPU is hogged, on the countrary it's 100%
(or 99.9%) idle all the time. Every X application
lauches this slow. It takes minutes for even
very simple applications to appear. Once an application
is launched, it seems to be running at full speed,
snappy and all that. It is not related to KDE itself,
since launching X with only twm gives the same
result (e.g. laucnhing xemacs takes forever).

The only errors I can find in /var/log/xdm-errors
are:

(EE) MGA: Failed to load module "mga_hal" (module does
not exist, 0)

and

Could not find font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/,
removing from list.

/var/log/messages gives no clue either, just complaining that
/dev/apmctl does not exist.

Included below is the dmesg.

If someone can give me an idea what to look for, I'd
be very grateful. Thanks.
