Well, the installer disks do have a few utilities on them that could be
used.

I use a bootable CD that has a complete 1.5.3 (i386) install and several
packages as a "rescue" system. (By the way, it is sold by DaemonNews BSD
Mall with there NetBSD 1.5.3 CDs.)
