Further OSS install failure observation:

Support at OSS has sent me a custom
kernel of their own to try. It is for
NetBSD 1.5.3. I ran config on it for
NetBSD 1.5.4_Alpha and found all I need
do was comment out a further three unknown
devices.

Here is a link to the kernel OSS sent me
to configure...

http://starling.us/oss/GENERIC.4Front.txt

I saved that kernel as netbsd.4Front and
booted to it. Then I tried to install OSS
from there. It gave this error:

kernel: page fault trap, code=0
Stopped in modload at vsprintf+0x1a: addb %c1,0xc3c9fc5d(%ebx)
db>

So it does not seem to be the kernels. Am still thinking
it may be leftover trashed/overwritten file somewhere from
failed make, make install of non-NetBSD packages on advice
of support at OSS.

I have a working, near-identical NetBSD setup in a ThinkPad
laptop. If I could ID the file which is bad/wrong/extra/missing
then I could graft/insert/delete/modify a proper copy. Am
hoping it may be that simple, anyway...

Any ideas about that?

Thanks,

Gan
