I have a new installation of NetBSD 1.5.3 i386. I have used earlier
versions of NetBSD on the mac68k platform, but this is my first
experience with 1.5.x and the i386 port.

I have read all of the documentation repeatedly, and as far as I can
tell I have made all the necessary network configurations--ifconfig,
mygate, hosts, nsswitch.conf, resolv.conf--but I am unable to reach any
other hosts on my internal network.

The i386 can ping itself at the loopback and at its own assigned static
IP, but any attempts to ping other machines result in "send to: host is
down". I have tried two different cables to no effect. I can see
activity on the hub at the port for the i386. The i386 cannot be
reached by other hosts either. The hardware is known to have been
working under other operating systems previously.

I am looking for suggestions of what to try next. The 1.5.3 rc.d method
is new to me, so perhaps I have overlooked something there and do not
know it.

Many thanks,

Jeffrey Ohlmann
