Just to inform, I got SUP to work. I just needed to add my hostname to the
/etc/hosts file. I usually just create a /etc/myname file and go about my
business, so this one got me.

I would also like to point out the SUP is indeed listed at the "preferred"
way of getting pkgsrc, as per this webpage:
