Sung emailed me off-list about this; his /var/db/pkg indicates that
packages were installed; but pkg_delete complains that they aren't
installed.

I agree that it would be frustrating to spend a lot of time building
several packages and they fail to work.

Anyways, your packages are in basic gzipped tar format. You can look at
them yourself -- and probably use them. Do they look okay?

To better research this, you should provide parts of the pkg_add -v
(verbose) output to the list.
