Hi,

I found the solution: start xterm as follows.

	xterm -xrm "XTerm.VT100.backarrowKey: false"

The back arrow key on the PC keyboard will them send a delete character
and all is well in the land of VMS.

Using the '-xrm' switch affects only that xterm, so it is the only one
that redefines the back arrow key. Putting this in .Xresources would
affect all the xterms.
