gmake: *** [grip.o] Error 1

Any idea how to make grip compile? I have tried editing source files as 
well as passing -I directives on the command line: no joy.

I have the gnu threads installed and some others:

/usr/pkg/PTL/include/pthread.h
/usr/pkg/include/SDL/SDL_thread.h
/usr/pkg/include/pthread.h
