well, there are lots of configs for X 4.1, but not too many for 3.3.6 and
the ones I have tried always end in filesystems being fsck'ed.
ctrl-alt-f5 doesn't show me the X server, XF86Setup is out.
What I'd like to get is the most basic options I need and pass them as
arguments if possible, building up from there.
I think my next step is to trash /usr/X11R6 and re-install it. Feh.
