well, the secret is revealed, I think. The problem was that QT wouldn't 
compile against the snapshot of XFree 4.1.0 I grabbed. I built X from 
xsrc today and now KDE2 is chugging along through the build from pkgsrc. 
Now of course, I get to see if X is hosed <sigh>

I expect many hours before we're done (this is just a 600 MHz machine, 
after all).
