I have a successful install of KDE 2 from source on NetBSD 1.5.2 with 
XFree86 4.1. I had some troubles. It was a while ago, but I wrote this

I'm writing this RE from KMail on KDE2 on NetBSD from my IBM 380Z 
laptop. I also have it installed on tower unit at home.
