We have a tape changer (HP 6 tape DDS3) on a Compaq box which was working
fine under NetBSD V1.3.2
with Amanda V2.4.1p2. Then we had a major disk lossage which required a
complete rebuild, so I
jumped in and updated everything.
Now, with the exact same config files for amanda I get the following:
$ /usr/local/libexec/chg-scsi -info
No device found for tape eject
which manifests itself as:
$ amtape ncti current
amtape: could not get changer info: could not read result from
"/usr/local/libexec/chg-scsi"
since "amtape" does not get a valid result back. This appears to be because
it cannot open
/dev/nrst0 (see log below).
Looking at the debug log for it I get:
chg-scsi: debug 1 pid 28325 ruid 601 euid 601 start time Thu Nov 22 14:16:11

I have tried using "tar -cvf /dev/nrst0 /etc" and I am able to write to the
tape,
and read from it, under the "amandrun" user without problems. Any idea why
the
/dev/nrst0 open is failing ?
Is anyone else using this version of Amanda with a chg-scsi based changer
under V1.5.2 ?
Thank you in advance.
