Any updates?  I suspect not, since I see discussion of GRUB in the
mail archives.

I would like to set up a diskless system and have just discovered that
the floppy disk controller on the PXE capable motherboard doesn't
work.  Sigh.  So PXE looks the way to go, and not having to use GRUB
would keep things simple.

I would offer to help but "extremely low level x86 startup code"
sounds a bit intimidating and I'm mostly ignorant of x86 assembler ...
