Thank you very much too all those who contributed to my problem. I have =
infact found the sollution. The network card i am using is a Realtek =
8139 with only a UTP port so when running auto-configure it was =
attempting "Media autoselect" and was failing.=20

Upon removing "Media Autoselect" the auto_configure worked. This was the =
same for the 3com ethernet management card and the Intel EtherEpress =
pro/100+
