Hi,

I'm still struggeling with artsd (from KDE2). My audio probes as follows

    auvia0 at pci0 dev 7 function 5: VIA VT82C686A AC'97 Audio (rev 0x50)
    auvia0: interrupting at irq 5
    auvia0: SigmaTel STAC9721/23 codec; 18 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, Rockwell 3D
auvia0: warning: codec doesn't support hardware AC'97 2.0 Variable Rate
Audio
audio0 at auvia0: full duplex, mmap, independent

It is possible to play sound via /dev/audio0, but

    artsd -D /dev/audio0 -A

displays
possible choices for the audio i/o method:
    null No audio input/output

The same happens for /dev/sound0. I have put a ktrace | kdump output of the
above artsd call on http://www.jellonet.de/ingolf/artsd.dump.gz for those who
want to help in this case. What is strange: the dump does not contain a
reference to /dev/audio0.

Any tips appreciated

    Ingolf
