I'm the original, and yes, that's exactly what's happening, but I can't
see how any key could be stuck. I don't get any error from the POST, and
I even ran a diag on the beast to check the keyboard, and it seems fine.
Certainly when I log in at the machine itself, no extra keypresses seem
to be occurring.

FWIW, this is the same thing that got me all confused when I did the
initial install; it just booted from install floppy 1 and sat there at
">" until someone told me to type "boot" and then away it went.
