I have been trying to clone an existing installation of 1.41-i386 by
dd-ing it from source drive (rwd0a) to an identical destination drive
(rwd1a) but dd always fails with a "read-only" error on the destination
drive. What is the problem?

Seems to me I've done this exact thing on PMAX's and Alphas with no
problem...


Both drives have identical disk labels

I was using dd as a last resort after I tried cloning by using
newfs,pax,installboot and messing about with the fdisk utility,but never
ended up with a bootable drive...

Any suggestions appreciated...
