Hello,
I'm having problems running X server as root user. I earlier asked for
help with GDM, but received none. As I explored, I came to conclusion
that GDM doesn't work correctly because X won't run under root correctly.
When I start X as normal user via startx it works a treat. If I start
X as root (via startx) I get following behaviour: many (most) things don't
render correctly and if I switch back to text mode virtual terminals
with Ctrl-Alt-Fkey and then back to X screen, the screen has become
corrupted. This doesn't happen when running X as normal user, and
the rendering is just fine then, too.
I would really appreciate any help, because some display manager is
a better idea than startx...
