You shouldn't have done that ! You've erased the NetBSD curses, which isn't
compatible with ncurses.

What do you mean ?
If you just need to have a NetBSD system handle 'xterm-color' terminal type,
just copy the xterm-color entry from a linux system to /usr/share/misc/termcap
and rebuild termcap.db with 'cap_mkdb /usr/share/misc/termcap'
