This was fixed in the main repository on Tuesday or Wednesday this
week. Evidently, the sup repository you are using is out-of-date.
Are you supping from a mirror? In any case, the latest tar balls on
ftp.netbsd.org won't have this problem.

Don't do that! That tar ball is a snapshot of pkg_install in current.
You need the patches in the package to get that to build on 1.5 or
older. Perhaps the best thing would be to sup from a more current
mirror, or else wait for your mirror to update.
