Is there anything special needed to use passwords longer than 8
characters? Currently, the first 8 characters of a password are
sufficient for ssh or su on my box. I'm sure this must be in the man
pages somewhere, but I can't find it there or in the FAQs, so I'd be
glad for a pointer. The only restriction I could find is that
passwords must be shorter than _PASSWORD_LEN.

From the crypt() man page, it looks like there's flag to force it to
use only the first 8 characters... is this what's happening in this
case? FWIW, I'm currently running NetBSD/i386 1.5.

Please reply to markbsd@wistey.org...

Thanks!
