this is of course true, yet...
I'd like to advocate the /etc/rc.d directory, which as it seems is new
since 1.5...
it's rather simple to add scripts for starting additional services
there and with the PROVIDE/REQUIRE lines and rcorder(8) you can very
easily set and determine the order in which scripts are invoked.
I really congratulate the implementors of this mechanism for it's
ingenious design, it's simple and straightforward yet very flexible
and powerful.
