Yeah, DLT's are great.  They (used to) cost more than other tape
technologies, but they're completely worth it because of the great
reliability you get from them.

Another good kind of tape is AIT.  The literature I've seen says that
AIT has comparable reliability to DLT, and it may be a bit faster for
some things.

Being a traditionalist (at least where backups are concerned), I still
prefer DLT.
