Could you try to remove the partition and make it again with
fdisk -u wd0 (where wd0 is the name of the disk (supossed you have an ide
disk)).
See if that can do some good.
If nothing else works you could always consider a low level format.
But first try the above, a low level format must be done carefully with
specific software from the manufacturer of the disk itself for else its a
nice way to make your disk unusuable.
