Following up to myself.

I went ahead and downloaded the binary version of libtool-1.3.5 and
installed that, as a workaround, and now I'm getting the same damn error
on just about anything I'm trying to make.

(Trying to make libslang)

ld: sltermin.lo: illegal reloc type mix

Anyone have any ideas for me to try?
