While we're on the subject of ports...

Sony PlayStation 2 will be oficially released in the US on October
26th
2000. PS2 is going to be an incredible piece of hardware for the
price
(300 bux). If the hard disk/network unit is released in the US, which
I
hope to goodness it is, and Sony isn't a buncha prudes on releasing
specs, it would be a perfect candidate for running a real OS like
NetBSD.

If I remember correctly, it will ship with a 128bit cpu, ~7mil
polygon/sec graphics controler, and 32mb or ram. The hard disk will
probably be 1gb, and the network adapter should be 10/100bt. It'd be
nice if the ram will be upgradeable, but 32m is plently to load a
kernel, X and a few other things.

Are plans already in the works for a port to this platform? If not,
I'll research it as much as possible once I get my hands on mine
(already pre-ordered), but I'm not much of a hardware guy (or not yet
anyways :) Any thoughts on this subject? Does migrating to 128bit
pose
any particular problems with NetBSD? ttyl
