I do not know if this can be much help, I experienced samiliar problems on a 
linux server, the solution was a newer version of the printing system. On that 
distribution the problem was a version of lprold < 3.0.48, that also had some 
security problems (kind of DOS and root compromise). I do not know if it is 
likely that NetBSD suffers from the same problem, and it seems that noone 
else had this problem (and I do not print anything).
