I didn't see TLP_* in the 1.4.2 source, so downloaded the subject i386
snapshot, unpacked it onto a spare IDE drive, and tried to boot so I
could use the network card. The generic kernel boots okay, then goes
into a long loop trying each SCSI address.

Here's what my machine has:

2940UW with 9GB IBM UW drive,
2 CDROMs and a JAZ drive on the narrow bus,
2 IDE drives.

I can boot 1.4.2 on the SCSI drive without any problems. The snapshot
error messages are (roughly):

scsibus0 - waiting 2 seconds for devices to settle...
probe(ahc1:15:0): SCB 1d: Immediate reset.  Flags = 0x4040
probe(ahc1:15:0): no longer in timeout, status = 0
ahc1: Issued Channel A Bus Reset. 2 SCBs aborted
probe(ahc1:15:0): SCB 1d - timed out while idle, SEQADDR == 0x18c
SCSIRATE == 0x0

At one point I waited 15-20 minutes for the messages to subside, then
I could mount the root and user partitions and run various programs.
Tonight, however, during a multiuser boot attempt, I got a flood of:

ahc1: ahc_intr - referenced scb not valid during SELTO scb(15, 29)

Until I can stabilize this, I can't build a kernel and then access
the network card :-(
