Hi all,

more problems with my laptop, this time getting the network going.
FWIW it does work under Win98 and Win2K, and all my tests were performed
on 2 of these cards bought almost a year apart.

what does not work:
no packets reach the outside world when connected via either a
10/100 switch or a cheap 10Mbit hub. I used tcpdump to detect
packets in both directions running on a second machine. Nothing
makes it out or into the laptop.

what does work:
ifconfig can select the media and the leds light up.
media selection set to auto selects 100Mbit and 10Mbit correctly.

dmesg gave this for the card:

ep1 at pcmcia1 function 0 port 0x340-0x35f: 3Com/Megahertz 3CCFEM556BI Ethernet/Modem
ep1: address 00:00:86:3e:5e:11, 64KB word-wide FIFO, 1:1 Rx:Tx split
ukphy0 at ep1 phy 0: Generic IEEE 802.3u media interface
ukphy0: OUI 0x00c039, model 0x0014, rev. 10
ukphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, auto
com3 at pcmcia1 function 1 port 0x330-0x337: serial device
com3: ns16550a, working fifo

I did notice that the WinModem and pcic are sharing irq3, could this be the
problem? dmesg output relevant to this is as follows:

pcic0 at isa0 port 0x3e0-0x3e1 iomem 0xd0000-0xd3fff: using irq 3
pcic0: controller 0 (Intel 82365SL Revision 1) has sockets A and B

isapnp0: read port 0x203
isapnp0: <LT Win Modem, HSM0B10, , > port 0x2f8/8,0x130/8 irq 3 drq 6,6 not configured
