Anyone know of a network attack using ICMP where a steady stream of:
packets of 92bytes in size of
Type: 8 :code :0 : ECHO
Destination: 255.255.255.255 (broadcast)
The first 32bytes of the packets is all 00 (my software doesn't show
rest)
or
packets of 158bytes in size of
Type: 8 :code :0 : ECHO
Destination: 255.255.255.255 (broadcast)
The first 32bytes of the packets is all AB (again my software doesn't
show the rest)
(I'm using ethload to watch the network)
All of these "attacks" came from off network sites or dialups.
I get reports of these activities fairly frequently and was wondering
what they were?
