Did you read the manpage and did you follow all the steps?

I use this and it works:

alice# cat /etc/raid0.conf

START array

#numrow numcol numspare

1 2 0

START disks

/dev/sd0e

/dev/sd1e

START layout

32 1 1 0

START queue

fifo 1024

alice# disklabel sd0

# /dev/rsd0d:

type: unknown

disk: disk1

label: egal

flags:

bytes/sector: 512

sectors/track: 212

tracks/cylinder: 5

sectors/cylinder: 1060

cylinders: 8387

total sectors: 8925000

rpm: 3600

interleave: 1

trackskew: 0

cylinderskew: 0

headswitch: 0 # milliseconds

track-to-track seek: 0 # milliseconds

drivedata: 0

8 partitions:

# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]

  a: 410157 63 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 0*- 386)

  c: 8924937 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 8419*)

  d: 8925000 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 8419*)

  e: 8514780 410220 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 387 - 8419*)

sd0a is my / fs and sd1a is used for swap. Kernel coredumps do not seem to
work but I do not care much about that.
