hi.

I use netbsd on ~6 decstations,
with one of them serving nfs and nis to the others.
I experience on the server that at very random times,
(once a day to once a week)
portmap starts to multiply, until some
30 of it is present in the process list,
the load is very high, and not much can be used anymore.
I could only detect that
there is high traffic on the
rpc (111) port at these times.
when i shut down the clients,
the clones of the portmap soon disappear.

what may cause this?
Does anyone have a clue?

thanks
david
